Venue
The meeting will take place at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel on Jekyll Island, Georgia.
Situated within the chain of the Golden Isles, Jekyll Island is just a few miles from St. Simons Island, Sea Island and Brunswick.
And as a State Park, the island is a coastal haven where nature and humans peacefully co-exist.
With ten miles of sun-drenched beaches (all of them different), four award-winning golf courses, and Georgia’s only
rehabilitation center for endangered sea turtles, there’s something for every kind of explorer.
Activities
Georgia Sea Turtle Center: Georgia’s only sea turtle education and rehabilitation facility. The
Center offers the public a chance to learn about sea turtles and see rehabilitation in action
with a host of interactive exhibits, experiences, and year-round indoor and outdoor programs. Be a part of sea turtle nesting season and monitoring
with the Georgia Sea Turtle Center through guided tours: Turtle Walks, Ride with Night Patrol, Egg-sperience Dawn Patrol, and Sunrise Walks.
These walks and tours allow you explore the beaches and learn about the amazing journey of loggerhead sea turtles nesting along the Georgia coast.
Golf Courses: Jekyll Island is home to four extraordinary golf courses, making it Georgia's largest public golf resort.
The Great Dunes course (9 holes, Par 36, 3229 yards) is a historic course that alternates in difficulty and simplicity, creating a stimulating
round on the links. The Indian Mound course (18 holes, Par 72, 6469 yards) is the shortest of Jekyll’s 18-hole courses, but offers plenty of
challenges and beautiful nature views. The Oleander course (18 holes, Par 72, 6521 yards) is the most distinct of the three 18-hole courses;
it is tightly designed, with ocean breezes and short grasses. And the Pine Lakes course (18 holes, Par 72, 6701 yards) is one of the only courses
in the nation that provides even playing ground for both adults and younger players.
Horseback Riding: The Golden Isles Carriage and Trail at Three Oaks Farm offers many
activities including horseback riding on Driftwood Beach and narrated horse-drawn carriage tours of the Historic District. The tours and rides
are accessible at multiple locations around the island: 100 Stable Rd. (daytime carriage tours), Latitude 31 (evening carriage tours),
Clam Creek Rd. (beach rides). Call for hours.
Historical Landmarks: Jekyll Island is home to many historical points of interest, including a 240 acre site around the Jekyll Island Club hotel
with over 30 historic structures, a memorial to the survivors of one of the last African slave ships, and the Jekyll Island Museum which brings
together an array of artifacts, exhibits, and opportunities that provide an insightful look at the island’s past lives.
Island Tours: Many guided tours of the island are offered which highlight the historical and natural wonders of the region.
In addition to the horse-drawn carriage rides and guided sea turtle experiences already mentioned, there are several tram and trolley tours.
Fun Tours offers eco-friendly tours via Segway®PT personal
scooters. And since Jekyll Island is home to more than a thousand acres of maritime forest, 10 miles of shoreline, and marshes filled with countless
species of plants and animals, it is one of the most important state parks in the south-eastern United States. You can learn
more about the island’s natural resources from Jekyll’s own park ranger during the unique
Ranger-Walk eco-experiences offered throughtout the year.
