2007 Feb Moving the Michelson Beam
The shipping crate is ready and waiting.
First, a practice run with a long plastic pole.
Then a discussion on how it needs to done.
It had to be lifted from the top....
... and the bottom.
Here it goes! Hope the 4x2 can hold it.
Eric is watching everything carefully.
Few! The 1200 pound beam is relatively safe and on the supports.
OK, one two three lift!
Out she goes.
Through the door.
All the way outside.
TaDa!
For the rest of the lift, we borrowed a back hoe from the TV guys.
Into the crate... Eric is still watching carefully.
In and ready to ship to New York and the Natural History Museum.
